W ciągu letnich miesięcy 1958/59 roku w Woroneskim Parku Narodowym badano ekologię i biologię Dryomys nitedula (Pallas, 1779). W skrzynkach lęgowych kontrolowano 191 dorosłych i wiele młodych zwierząt. Zasadnicze wnioski są następujące: 1. Sprzyjającym biotopem dla koszatki na badanym obszarze są wilgotne i cieniste lasy topolowo-dębowe. Monokultury sosnowe są pomijane. 2. Koszatka zasiedla dziuple drzew i skrzynki legowe, unikając pojedynczych gniazd.
