Abstract:

Analysis was made of some elements of the structure and functioning of three meadow ecosystems, on the basis of examination of soil, vegetation, invertebrate fauna and micro-organisms. It was found that invertebrate phytophages and decomposers occur numerously on fertile, more productive meadows. The decomposition rate of dead plant matter is correlated with the abundance of earthworms and bacteria dominating among the decomposers. Predatory forms are concentrated in the epigeion layer, where thev find the most abundant food supply.
