Abstract:

Assessment was made of the herb layer production, moss biomass and plant fali from trees and shrubs in two plant communities belonging to the association of Vaccinio myrtilli-Pinetum (Kobendza 1930, Tüxen, Vlieger 1959) and in a young pine tree plantation adjoing them. These studies form part of an extensive research programme on the biological production of forest ecosystems carried out in several forest associations in the north of Poland by the Institute of Ecology, Polish Academy of Sciences.
