Date issued/created:

Description:

In the autumn-spring seasons of 1976-1977 and 1984-85 an inventory of beaver sites was made in the Suwałki Lakeland. The respective numbers of sites recorded were 137 and 257. The increase in the number of sites was due to their higher density in the earlier occupied areas and to the expanision of beavers westwards and southwards. The beaver population of the Suwałki Lakeland enters a stable phase, and soon an annual reduction of animal number will be needed.
