In its essence, this kind of education was supposed to impress a certain vision of history of the army itself, the Polish military art and the whole past of the Polish country on the minds of young soldiers thus influencing their collective memory. At the same time the knowledge about the history and its interpretation was intended to bring up specific results for the present – it was to intensify the education of soldiers and shape their favorable attitudes towards the communist system in Poland. An analysis was made on the basis of selected documents issued by the Chief Political Directorate of the Polish Army, mainly on two orders issued in 1961 and 1972 by the Chief of the Political Directorate on the “education based on traditions” which set the course of this political education. Especially the first document of 1961, issued by Gen. Wojciech Jaruzelski in his early period of command of the Political Directorate, made an important contribution to the systematization of methods of work with Polish troops on the basis of historical traditions.}, type={Text}, title={„Wychowanie na tradycjach” jako element pracy politycznej w Ludowym Wojsku Polskim w latach sześćdziesiątych i siedemdziesiątych XX wieku}, URL={http://rcin.org.pl/ihpan/Content/59758/PDF/WA303_79106_B155-Polska-T-13-2015_Leszkowicz.pdf}, keywords={propaganda, communist - Poland - 1945-1990, collective memory - Poland- 1945-, ideology - Poland - 1945-1990, Poland.
