 abstract={The article presents the analyses prepared by Grand Crown Chancellor Jan Małachowski in 1755 during his correspondence with the first Saxon minister Heinrich Brühl and the secretary of the Russian legation in Warsaw Jan Rzyszczewski. His “Refl ections” were a proposal of the new arrangement of Polish aff airs in relations with Russia submitted by the chancellor to Rzyszczewski. Małachowski wrote that although Russia had always wanted to maintain peace in Poland and observe the laws, it was portrayed by supporters of France as a force using violence. He compared Russia’s attitude to Poles to the father using the rod to discipline his unruly children.},
