Search for: [Object description = "The photo shows women from dhati rabari in southern Sindh province. They sit in a hut on the threshing floor. In the back there is an old man watching the situation. Among the women are older ones in the front and young and girls in the middle. Before the division of India into India and Pakistan, the shepherds of Sindhu rabaris and the kachchi rabari constituted one endogamous group. After the declaration of independence in 1948, the former group split up and relatives on the other side of the border lost touch. The former traditional black costumes of rabari women have been replaced by new colored ones. Men also stopped wearing their old clothes and replaced them with those worn by most of the people of southern Sindhu. Some men began to wear a beard, which is a Muslim tradition, not a Hindu one. Dhati rabari live in villages and breed camels."]
