Collection

Photographs

The collection includes photographs collected in the so-called The Archives of Polish Mathematicians, initiated by an archivist in the Sopot branch of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The archive was created on the basis of gifts donated by families and friends to the Institute as the legacy of Polish mathematicians. The materials collected and published digitally on the RCIN platform are scans of photographic prints showing the profiles of famous people associated with the world of mathematics. These are portrait and group photos taken during historical mathematical events: symposiums, conferences, conventions and lectures. Most of the photos come from the second half of the 20th century, but the exact dates of some of them have still not been established. Due to their unknown or uncertain origin and authorship, the collection of photographs is available on the basis of restricted access and it is possible to view it from computers at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
