Arteriosclerosis. Autopsy examination of 44-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-Eosin and Van Gieson's method.Fresh hemorrhage infiltrating the surrounding tissue was found in the right basal ganglia in the internal capsule. In the surrounding area small hemorrhages per diapedesis were present. The structure of surrounding tissue was loosened, single macrophages were found. Vascular endothelial stimulation and proliferation, glial stimulation were observed, perivascularly symptomatic infiltrates and micro necrosis were seen. Features of large edema were found throughout the examined tissue. The nerve cells of the gray structures mostly showed features of fatty degeneration. In the left basal ganglia, several post-malacia cavities filled with a loose network of connective tissue fibers and macrophages, surrounded by fibrous glial-mesodermal tissue were present. Several foci of perivascular necrosis were observed in the basal part of the pons. A large vessel in the sulcus basilaris showed fibrous thickening of the intima, defects and delamination of the intima elastic membrane, and a small aneurysmal protrusion. Parts of the arterial wall were thinned. Large vitreous-fibrous lesions were found in the intracerebral vessels.}, type={Text}, title={File of histopathological evaluation of nervous system diseases (1965) - nr 72/65}, URL={http://rcin.org.pl/Content/197137/PDF/72_65.pdf}, keywords={Vascular disaeses - encephalomacia, Atherosclerosis}, }
