 abstract={The plane laminar boundary layer in the case of an incompressible viscoelastic (simple) fluid in a stagnation point flow is considered in great detail. The scaling procedure characterizing the “elastic-type” boundary layer and the constitutive equations valid for thin-layer flows with dominating extensions (FDE) are applied. It is shown that the layer thickness as well as the velocity profiles essentially depend on the Weissenberg number and the extensional viscosity function.},
