 abstract={Simple procedures and charts are suggested to design PI controllers for time delayed processes so as to meet specified phase margin and cross-over frequency. The compatibility of the specifications with system stability and their influence on system performance are investigated. It is shown how the procedures can be extended to the case in which the specifications are given in terms of gain and phase margins. Robustness issues are also considered.},
