Manganese oxidation catalysed by bacteria takes placein presence of dissolved oxygen, at relatively high Eh conditions about 600 mV and pH 6,5-7and this process proceeds more rapidly than any non-biological reaction. Chemical oxidation ofmanganese could be achieved only by raising the pH to 8,5 or over. Manganese(rV) is reducedalready at the Eh value -i-300 mV and pH values between 6 and 7. The reduction process canbe catalysed by bacterial enzymatic systems and coupled with oxidation of organic matter orindirectly by bacterial metabolites}, type={Text}, title={Application of biological processes in manganese eliminationfrom ground water}, URL={http://rcin.org.pl/Content/148139/PDF/POZN271_183654_biotechnologia-1994-no4-olanczuk.pdf}, keywords={biotechnology}, }
