The estimationof the process treatment effectiveness contains the rate of the reduction of organic compoundsand nutrients — nitrogen and phosphorus. The phophosphates removal is performed as a resultof overtaking and accumulating polyphosphates in the cells of specific groups of bacteria (Acinetobacter and others). The basic condition for the correct course of this processes is the creationof sequences of anaerobic and aerobic conditions. Other factors which have influence on thepolyphosphates metabolism include the presence of short chain organic acids, nitrate concentration and redox potential. When using biological methods for the phosphorus removal duringthe sewage treatment it is very helpful to know the properties of bacteria populations which areresponsible for phosphorus reduction.}, type={Text}, title={Biological phosphate removal in waste water treatment}, URL={http://rcin.org.pl/Content/148702/PDF/POZN271_184087_biotechnologia-1994-no2-czerska.pdf}, keywords={biotechnology}, }
