Arteriosclerosis cerebri. Oedema et hyperaemia.Autopsy examination of 70-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin, cresyl-violet, van Gieson, Heidenhain and Holzer method.Cross sections of the spinal cord showed loss of cells in the anterior horns, especially the anterolateral and posterolateral nuclei. Only single steatotic cells were found at the site of Clark's nucleus. In the posterior horn, marked loosening of the tissue structure was observed. In the cortex, cell loss, fatty degeneration, and ischemic disorders were evident. Amyloid granules were found in the fine layer of the hippocampal valve. In the white matter of the hippocampal gyrus, a dissolving tissue was seen. Throughout the CNS, vessels were maximally filled with blood, with walls altered vitreous and fibrous. Virchow-Robin spaces were dilated. The tissue-vascular border was relaxed, sometimes spongy-like in nature. Histiocytes, macrophages and lymphocytes were observed in the meninges around the vessels.}, title={File of histopathological evaluation of nervous system diseases (1966) - nr 103/66}, type={Text}, URL={http://rcin.org.pl/Content/193401/PDF/103_66.pdf}, keywords={Degenerative diseases}, }
