Status lacuneris Oedema et hyperaemia cerebri. Arteriosclerosis cerebri. Autopsy examination of 76-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin, PAS and van Gieson method.In the right basal ganglia a small focus of malacia in the mesodermal-glial organization phase was found. Numerous macrophages and a network of young vessels were visible in the center of the focus. In the left basal ganglia, a triangular focus, involving the insula cortex and the extrema capsule, was seen. The focus was in the stage of advanced glial-mesodermal organization. Numerous gemistiocytes, stimulated glial cells and single macrophages were observed in the necrotic area. Besides, multiple perivascular necroses were found bilaterally in the striatum. There was extensive neuronal atrophy in the cortex. Preserved neurocytes showed features of ischemic damage and steatosis. Numerous amyloid globules were present in the fine layer. Thalamic cells contained high amounts of lipofuscin. Atrophy and steatosis were especially present in the olive cells. Throughout the CNS, vessels were congested and endothelium was stimulated. The vessel walls showed medium-grade vitreous and fibrous changes.i}, title={File of histopathological evaluation of nervous system diseases (1966) - nr 127/66}, type={Text}, URL={http://rcin.org.pl/Content/193414/PDF/127_66.pdf}, keywords={Vascular diseases - encephalomacia inveterate, Edema & hyperemia cerebri, Arteriosclerosis cerebri}, }
