Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin and van Gieson method.A specimen taken from the temporal lobe showed extensive pale necrosis involving both the cortex and the white matter. Numerous macrophages, juvenile vessels, and fibroblasts were present in the dissolving tissue. The tissue around the necrotic focus showed stimulated forms of astrocytic glial and microglia. There was a band-like necrotic focus with single macrophages, glial and fibroblasts in the inner capsule. Stimulated forms of astroglia were found around the focus. The meningeal and cerebral vessels showed features of vitrification and fibrosis. The perivascular spaces were dilated, the tissue around the vessels had a diffuse structure. In the cerebral cortex, some cells were shrunken with dark nuclei resembling ischemic disorder.Histological diagnosis: Encephalomalacia cerebri.}, }
