 abstract={The article contains a preliminary reconstruction of early medieval settlement in the Sienniczka river basin and presents the settlement of Siennica, the name of which was one of the first from this part of Mazovia to appear in written sources. It is contextualized in the south-eastern and eastern borderland of Mazovia, encompassing the catchment areas of the Świder, Kostrzyń and Liwiec rivers, where more than a dozen recorded strongholds formed a well-defined cordon. The interpretation covers the issue of medieval communication routes connecting Czersk with the border castellanies of Liw and Łuków, as well as the location of several settlements located on the periphery of south-eastern Mazovia, the names of which, together with the toponym Zenniza, were recorded in a document from 1220.},
