 abstract={Professor Józef Miąso (February 10, 1930 – April 11, 2025) is one of the most important and influential representatives of the postwar history of education, not only as a researcher but also as a co-creator of the methodological and problem-solving principles of this subdiscipline of history. Serving for many years as head of the Department for the History of Education, and then director of the Institute for the History of Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences, he contributed to the establishment and development of an institutional framework not only for the history of education but also for the history of science as a whole. He nurtured and inspired a multitude of researchers who pass on his approach to life and science to subsequent generations of scholars practising this subdiscipline of history, which requires exceptional qualifications. His own scholarly work, exemplary in its historical technique and based on comprehensive source research, has retained its cognitive value despite the passage of time and remains present in the historiography of 19th- and 20th-century education.},
