 abstract={Possibility to observe large samples of texts related to advances in technology have allowed the researchers to see diverse patterns of co-occurrence. In this paper we introduce one of such patterns — semantic prosody. We start with an overview of semantic prosody definitions. Then we move to some controversial points such as the unit of the prosody or the problem of meaning transfer between collocates. We also describe how to determine semantic prosody, to finally conclude with examples of its application focusing on socially oriented discourse analyses.},
