 abstract={Already during his life, Edmund Burke (1730–1797) was one of the most controversial and intellectually influential persons on the British political scene. After his death, disputes over the character of his views and opinions, described as “conservative” or “liberal”, or divided into the “early liberal Burke” or “late conservative Burke”, attracted attention of many politicians and scholars. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, too, they spark widespread interest, which indicate their importance, but also troubles with their interpretation.},
