 abstract={In this paper the thermo-elastic-plastic model for determination of stresses in a solidifying casting is proposed. The temperature fields, solidification rates, stresses and strains have been determined for a solidifying axially-symmetrical casting. The effect of plastic strains on the instant of generation and size of shrinkage gap has been discussed. The problems have been solved numerically by means of the finite element method.},
