 abstract={The article presents the personage of royal physician Maciej of Błonie, who lived at the turn of the 16th century, mainly on the basis of biographical notes written by him preserved in an endpaper of Avicenna’s texts kept in the Provincial Library at the Higher Theological Seminary of Franciscans in Krakow. An attempt is also made to determine factors which could have infl uenced his career and a degree of its typicality or uniqueness. Next, the study seeks to characterise entries made by Maciej and present them in the context of other writings of his times; in addition, it contains an edition of his notes.},
