 abstract={This paper is conerned with the morphological variability of Spergula vernalis Willd, and the effect of different habitat conditions on the variability of different organs. Biometric analysis was made of 5000 plants, taking 11 morphological characters into consideration, over a period of three years differing as to weather conditions, on five stands, each of which formed a separate stage in the spread of vegetation over the dune. The analysis revealed which characters are distinguished by the greatest variability and correlation. The study also contains the results of growing Spergula vernalis for the purpose of checking the correctness of the assumption that such variability is phenotypic in character.},
