The remaining 6% is plant food (mainly macrophytes). In particular years of the study the quality of consumed food did not vary much. The weight percentage of particular components and their frequency of occurrence (feeding) changed slightly in consecutive seasons of the year. The feeding by the carp is most intense between June and August. A thermocline is a thermal barrier significantly limiting the vertical feeding range of the carp in this type of water body. The littoral zone is the main feeding ground for two year old carp almost entire the whole vegetation season.
