In the first group the dogs were given intravenously increasing amounts of pancreatic juice. In the second aud third groups the pancreatic juice was circulating in the blood after * being excreted through an operatively made pancreatico-venous fistula. The authors state that the pancreatic enzymes circulating in the blood produce a toxic effect, namely disturbances in the blood coagulation, hypoproteinemia and kidney function disorders. " .
