Subject and Keywords: Abstract:Histologicak diagnosis: cystioercosis cerebri. Autopsy examination of 56-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with H-E, Cresyl violet, V.Q and Lindlen. In the meninges in the parenchyma and in the lumen of the ventricles on all sampled sections multiple cysts ranging in size from peppercorns to cherries were found. They were mostly surrounded by a solid connective tissue capsule with the inflammatory infiltrate composed of lymphocytes and plasma cells at the periphery. Further, reticulin fibers and reactive astroglia were observed. Giant cells directly surrounded the parasite body. Generalized lymphocytic-plasmacytic meningitis was seen. Cortical neurocytes revealed features of ischemic disease. The vessels near the cysticercus showed thickening of the walls. Histological diagnosis: cystioercosis cerebri
