Abstract:

Course of healing of sectioned pancreatic parenchyma and ducts was studied by the authors on experimental animals. Sectioned pancreatic parenchyma heals during a fortnight with formation of thick connective tissue scar. Transversely sectioned Wirsungian duct becomes persistently imprevious, and peripheral part of the pancreas undergoes to fibrotic atrophia. Wirsungian duct remains permeable after longitudinal incision, and its wall heals during 28 days. Contamination of pancreatic wound with even scarce quantity of duodenal juice causes extent necrosis of the pancreas and death of the experimental animal.
