Abstract:

The effect of fluids cooling the liver before its taking from the donor for transplantation was studied examining the hepatocytes and sinuses of the liver. For investigations Ringer’s solution., a fluid of „intracellular” ionic composition, plasma and blood of low haematocrit value were used. No major lesions of hepatocytes were demonstrated during biochemical and electron microscopic examinations. On the other hand, the walls of hepatic sinuses showed significant changes independently of the fluid used for cooling.
