The photo shows an elderly woman dressed in black sitting on a chair and next to her is an elderly man with a walking stick. A man in a hat is standing between them. A garden or an orchard (?) is visible in the background. There is an inscription on the back of the photo: “Bilczew Village, Ostrów Wielkopolski district, 1938 (…) – a farmer Tomasz (Thomas) (…) Weronika (Veronica) (…) a son Antoni (Anthony) (…)/ stand”; 1938, Bilczew, Ostrów Wielkopolski district ; The photo sent to the contest “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly „Nowa Wieś” (New village). The copy of the photo in the possession of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute of the History of Material Culture).
