Description:

Muscle segment examination in light & electron microscopy

Abstract:

Diagnosis: Suspected oculopharyngeal dystrophy. In the collected specimen, muscle fibers of the correct diameter form bunches separated by a trace amount of connective tissue among them irregularly scattered individual fibers with a clearly smaller diameters, as well as the other fibers do not show deviations in H-E staining and Gomori trichrome. Division of fibers into metabolic types maintained correctly. Type 1 fibers exhibit abnormal activity of all three dehydrogenases with significant loss of activity as well as its non-characteristic accumulation
