Description:

The photo shows two festively dressed people. The woman holds a baby in her arms prepared for the baptism: covered with a white, ornamented cloth. A man in a hat is standing at her side. There are two women behind him. Some farm buildings are visible in the background. There are an inscription on the back of the photo: “The son’s baptism. The sister, the Godmother, the Godfather, the brother-in-law behind him and in front of the family house my mother and her oldest sister. Dębnica, Ostrów Wielkopolski district” ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
