Description:

The photo depicts two young people. A woman in a dress with a white lace collar and in high boots is holding gloves in one hand. Holding her arm is a tall, strapping man in riding breeches. According to the photo owner’s account, these are Apolonia and Franciszek [Francis] (…). The photo was sent to her grandfather Feliks [Felix] (…) to Germany, where he was taken to perform forced labour [?]. At the back of the photo there is an inscription [with some spelling mistakes] saying: “A everlasting keepsake for our beloved brother and brother-in-law, from brother-in-law Franek and sister Polka”. The another inscription made with a different handwriting says: “from my stay in captivity in Germany” ; 1938, Rypin or Kretki Małe ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village).
