Description:

The photo depicts a britzka [horse-drawn carriage]. There are an elegant woman, a man and a girl sitting inside the carriage and three men standing next to it. Behind the group there is a small white manor building and in the foreground agaves in large pots. A man in a uniform is driving the carriage. According to the photo owner’s account, sitting in the carriage is the owner of the manor ‘Przystajnia’ with his family. His father, who worked there at the time, is driving the carriage. ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
