Lawenda wąskolistna jest zimozielonym półkrzewem osiągającym wysokość pół metra. Naturalnie występuje na terenie zachodnniego Śródziemnomorza. Zawiera olejki eteryczne, które szczególnie intensywnie wyczuwalne są podczas w ciepłych, słonecznych dni lub po roztarciu liści i pędów. Kwitnie latem na niebiesko lub fioletowo. Lawenda, jak wiele roślin klimatu śródziemnomorskiego, rośnie dobrze w pełnym nasłonecznieniu i jest odporna na suszę.
