Description:

The photo depicts a multi-generational family in front of a thatched hut. Standing on the left there is a man in a suit. Next to him there are: another man in a dark jacket and riding breeches, and three women in “home” clothes. In the middle there is a boy with a dog and with a cat on his lap. On the right there is an elderly woman with a bucket in her hand – she is holding the arm of a tall man in a light jacket and riding breeches. Between them and the boy there is one more woman. According to its owner, the photo depicts her grandfather’s Wojciech (…) family. It was taken by her grandfather with a camera that belonged to the man standing on the left side (it was the grandfather’s brother-in-law) ; summer 1944, Kuchary, voiv. kaliskie ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
