Abstract:

An 8-year-old patient was examined. A biopsy of quadriceps was performed.Electronmicroscopy analysis revealed some ultrastructurally unchanged muscle fibers with preservedsarcomeres pattern and quite abundant connective tissue between the fibers.Some fibers showed focally disturbed structure and were characterized by the presence ofcharacteristic inclusions (protein deposits) and mitochondria with an electron bright matrix, partiallyor totally devoid cristae.
