Description:

The photo depicts a large group of young women in folk costumes and one man posing for the camera. In front of them there is a symbolic harvester decorated with an eagle and flowers. According to the photo’s owner, it depicts the first post-war district harvest festival in Kielce on 09. 09.1945. The photo was taken by an unknown photographer and depicts a folk band from the village of Masłów near Kielce lead by the local organist (of many years, dating back to the pre-war times). At the back of the photo there is an inscription saying: “The music band from Masłów during the harvest festival in Kielce 09. 09.1945” ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
