Title:

[A harvest wreath transmission] [An iconographic document]

Date issued/created:

[ca 1930-35]

Description:

The photo depicts a group of people gathered in a courtyard of a nice brick-build building with a wooden glazed parlour. In front of the parlour there is a man with a woman who seem to be the owners of the house and may be the addressees of the event captured in the photo. The remaining people are facing the couple. There are also some children among the attendees. A group of men in suits is holding a large flower wreath with ribbons. Most probably this is a harvest wreath passed to the manor owners. The photo was taken by Wanda (…) ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
