Description:

The photo depicts a part of a peasant’s yard with farm buildings (a barn). In the middle, there is a man holding a horse by its harness; behind him there are farm mechanes: a threshing machine (on the right) and most probably a traction engine [lokomobila = a steam engine driving the thresher). The photo was taken by Wanda (…) ; ca 1930-1935, Chorośnica, Podolia (Ukraine) ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
