Description:

The photo depicts a girl in a white dress (resembling a First communion outfit), with pinned up hair; she is holding a prayer book in her left hand. The girl is posing next to a decorative table. The photo was taken in a photographic studio. According to its owner, the photo was taken in 1910 and depicts a daughter of (…) a landowner who was also in the business of trading in colonial merchandise and baking in the village of Kokoszyce. The girl is wearing a festive outfit characteristic for children of wealthy village residents in the Rybnik district. The photo was taken by the Otto Schwittay’s studio in Rybnik ; 1910, Kokoszyce / Rybnik ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
