Description:

The photo depicts four young men performing a scene of a duel. These men are standing in staged poses, one (on the left) is holding a “gun”, two (on the right and in the middle) – knives and the fourth one – the “second”- is standing under a tree with a notebook in his hand. There is a wooden barn door and a huge tree stump behind them. According to its owner, the photo comes from the summer of 1910 from the village of Kokoszyce and depicts a “tri-duel” game in front of a historic barn from the beginning of the 19th century and a 1000-year-old lime tree – that were destroyed during the Second World War. The farm belonged to the farmer (…) from Kokoszyce. Young men visible in the photo were sons of farmers, workers of KWK “Anna” in Pszów ; summer 1910, Kokoszyce, com. Pszów, district Rybnik ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village).
