Description:

The photo depicts several dancing couples – women and men, in a dance sequence with intertwined hands raised above their heads. The women are dressed in identical mid-calf length skirts and dark sleeveless blouses; men are wearing sleeveless shirts and shorts. The photo was taken in a spacious room with large windows. According to its owner, it depicts first post-war rehearsals of a dance group established at the primary school in Kokoszyce in October 1945. The group was made of pupils of the 8th grade and youngsters from outside the school ; 1945, Kokoszyce, com. Pszów, district Rybnik ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
