Abstract:

The fermentation yeasts Saccharomyces cerevisiae capable of producing killer factor type K2and amylolytic yeasts Schwanniomyces occidentaiis were used to obtain the somatic hybrids bymeans of fusion protoplasts according to Fournier. The obtained hybrids showed amylolytic and fermentation activity. They also were characterized by the ability to form spores and to biosynthesize the killer factor.Their stability was dependent on the composition of the cultivation medium.
