Description:

The photo depicts a multi-generational family. In the foreground there are two elderly women in light aprons and a man in a coat / “kufajka” [a quilted jacket] sitting in the middle. Behind them there are four amused boys holding carpenter’s tools above the older people’s heads. According to the photo’s owner, it depicts his family on his father’s side and the everyday village humour. The photo was taken by a family member ; 1936, Piaseczno, voiv. Gdańskie ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
