Description:

The photo depicts a group of people working at the bringing of hay from a meadow. The hay was loaded on a cart drawn by two horses. Next to the horses there is a standing man in a white shirt and a dark waistcoat. Two young men are standing on the hay, on the cart. Standing next to the wagon are two young women in kerchiefs with rakes and three men. One of these men is dressed in a military uniform, the other – in a suit. Fields and meadows can be seen in the background. According to its owner, the photo depicts bringing of hay from a field. Her father is standing next to the horses; at the back there is the owner of the second horse; next to the cart is a neighbour – an officer, later shot by the Gestapo; her sister with her friend from the university and her brother. The photo owner’s second brother and his friend are standing on the cart ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
