Description:

The photo depicts a newlywed couple: a woman and a man in festive outfits, surrounded by two other couples, standing in front of a wooden wall. The woman is dressed in an original dress with a shine and ornamental trimmings in the bottom part. She is holding a flower bouquet in her hands. Standing next to her is a tall man in a suit or a coat and a white scarf. On their sides there are men in suits decorated with flowers in breast pockets. In front of them there are two women sitting in chairs. They are dressed in dark jackets / coats, white aprons and tiaras on their heads and are holding flowers in their hands. According to its owner, the photo depicts a young couple with bridesmaids and best men from the village of Poborszów near Krapkowice in Opole voivodeship and was taken in January of 1929. The photo was taken in a yard in front of a barn on the wedding day. The newlyweds are the parents of the photo owner’s father, ie. that is her grandparents ; January 1929, Poborszów near Krapkowice, voiv. Opolskie ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
