The photo depicts two men standing next to a horse mill (a treadmill) holding tools in their hands. The horse mill mechanism is clearly visible. The older man has a smoking pipe in his mouth. At the back of the photo there is the inscription: “Year 1937, July. Grandfather Jan (…) and his son Brunon. Assembling of a treadmill outside the smithy (the grandfather’s property). (…) the village of Pasierby” ; July 1937, Pasierby, district gostyński, voiv. Wielkopolskie ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village).
