Description:

The photo depicts a young woman in a white blouse and a long dark (black ?) skirt. The woman has a string of beads around her neck and a watch on her wrist. She is sitting in a chair with her elbow resting on a table covered with a tablecloth, propping her coifed head on her hand. The photo was most probably taken in a photographic studio judging by the mock-up in the background. According to its owner, the photo depicts her mother Felicja (...) in a festive outfit worn by unmarried village girls. There is an inscription at the back of the photo: “A memento from the war year of 1916” ; 1916, Posada Jaćmierska, district sanocki, voiv. Krośnieńskie ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
