Description:

The photo depicts people in a long line walking in the middle of a street. In the middle of the group there is an orchestra lead by a man in a uniform. In the background (on the right) there are thatched wooden buildings. According to the photo’s owner, it depicts celebrations of the 3rd of May in the village of Irządze. There is an inscription at the back of the photo: “A parade of organizations during the 3rd of May National Holiday in Irządze in 1935” ; 3rd May 1935, Irządze, district Zawiercie, voiv. Śląskie ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
