Description:

Electron microscopy analysis of the heart biopsy

Subject and Keywords:

Dilated cardiomyopathy

Abstract:

Ultrastructural evaluation revealed changes in the contractile apparatus of so mecardio myocytes. Myofibrils were often disrupted. In the areas devoid of myofibrils electron-dense lipofuscin was sometimes observed . Themitochondria of the myocytes were morphologically altered . The nuclei of cardio myocytes were characterised by a very irregular shape. Numerous collagen fibers were present in the extracellular space as well as capillaries with endothelium showing characteristic features of necrosis
